Walks Public Liability

Norfolk County Council (NCC) cover the Paston Footprints' trails with their public indemnity insurance policy. For details concerning how to report any defects on the route or to make a third party liability claim, please read here for full terms.

Health and Safety

All walks have been NCC H&S audited, and maintenance reviews are undertaken by NCC. If you find any parts of the routes inaccessible (such as overgrown hedges etc.), contact us at pastonfootprints@gmail.com and we will inform the NCC.

Where Active Trails have undertaken accessibility audits, these are available on walk pages.

The Co-Directors undertake regular training. Dr Knee has received H&S training from Pathmakers as a tour guide. Dr Smyth has undertaken web accessibility training and has an annual DBS check. The Paston Footprints team is not liable for third parties hosting related events or activities.

We recommend all walkers to undertake personal H&S reviews with regulated medical professionals before physical activities or engaging with the wellbeing activities if you have any form of diagnosed mental health need.

Accessibility Statement

We have an ongoing commitment to enable and improve access to Paston heritage.

Our trail walks have disability access audits by Active Trails, available on the walk overview pages.

GPX codes have been created by Norfolk County Council to enable fitness watches to be used on our walk and cycle routes, available on the walk overview pages.

Three hundred way-marking discs (with the Paston griffin) along the countryside routes are installed to help you navigate your route.

We hope the walk overviews and audio trail guides will enable those who are unable to reach or access our locations to get a sense of the Paston landscapes. We also hope the overviews may offer reassurance for those who find new routes challenging.

We hope the feature on the walk overview pages of 'Things to do nearby' will help families and everyone plan visits, including refreshment and toilet breaks, as well as enjoyable day outs.

Website Accessibility

We have installed a web accessibility tool, which appears on the top right of every screen. We are keen to have feedback on its functionality and usefulness (or not).

If you find any issues or think of ways we could improve accessibility requirements (to either the website or on the walks), please contact Karen at pastonfootprints.co.uk.
